stock company lost my personal info

hi there,

i have stocks walt disney and BYN MELLON ''shareowner services, and they wrote me a letter stating they lost my personal information (aka: ssn, addresses, stock info) and that they were going to give me a 2 year service to a credit watch program, and $25,000. in identity theft protection, but i just dont think its enough... is it possible to sue them for miss-hadleing of my info? because they said they only offer 2 years of protection... but alot can happen after 2 years! please help!

Sure, you could sue the company, once you have incurred damages as a result of their mishandling of your personal data. However, until that happens, you would have no apparent basis to sue this company(in my opinion)for something that might happen at some future time.
