Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Virginia

Stolen Property - Home Inspector

I'm trying to determine what kind of attorney I need. I fell behind on mortgage payments last July and my lender began sending a home inspector and a lawn care service to my property. I was out of the state for a period of 3 months and upon returning found several items missing from my property, televisions, scanners, etc. I contacted my lender and they indicated that there isn't enough evidence to show that the home inspector is responsible for the missing items. I live in the middle of suburbia in a very nice neighborhood. I am current on my mortgage now but I would like my items returned. I've been going back and forth with my lender since August of 2008. I just want to know what kind of attorney handles situations like this? The property is located in Virginia.

Re: Stolen Property - Home Inspector

You could sue the home inspector for the return of your property bt filing a Warrant in Detinue in your

local general district court, but in order to prevail on your claim you would need to prove by a preponderance of the evidence that in fact the inspector removed the items from your property without authority to do so.
