Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Virginia

Can I sue

I loaned a person $3,381, over a period of 7 months. This person lead me to beleave that he cared about. We had been seeing each other for 11 months. I just found out that he had been using me. He asked me if I could loan him money, though out these months. And said on his word as a man that he will pay me back. I took his word for it. I am a single parent of 4. My husband was killed 13 years ago, and he was the first man that I had any kind of relationship with in 13 years. He knew this, Now that I not giving him anymore money he moved on. I have the date, amount, and what he said he neeed it for. Is this enough to take him to court?

Re: Can I sue

Sure, you can file your case for about $40 in a Virginia small claims court.

Bring as much evidence as you can for the hearing that the various loans which you made to this apparent predator over the period of the seven months or so were in fact loans and not intended nor given as gifts.
