Legal Question in Immigration Law in Virginia

when i was 20 years old i was charged with shoplifting,i did 40 hours of community service and i was a green card holder. When i went to take my citizenship test i was detained and they told me i am going to be deported. My lawyers told me i can wait so they can try some asylum thing but i couldn't wait so i self deported myself. I have been out of the states for 4 years and i would like to go back to the states.my parents and my brothers and my son are american citizens.Can i go back?My green card is expired ?

No, you likely have to wait another six years or so before attempting to reapply for any kind of entry into the United States.

You may be able to obtain a waiver of criminal inadmissibility under the "petty offense" exception. In order to be eligible, the maximum sentence for your crime must not have exceeded 1 year and you must have committed only one crime. If you have more than one crime on your record, you are inadmissible, no exceptions.
