Legal Question in Immigration Law in Virginia

Can my aunt seek asylum

I have a aunt who lives in El Salvador. Her soon was kidnapped a couple years ago and the kidnappers were put in jail for only about 2-3 years. They are now free and are looking for her and her family. My aunt is living in great fear aswell as us, her family. I wanted to know if there is a wsy that she can leave El Salvador and live with family here either in va, md, or d.c. I would also like to add that she can't even run her store in the city because she is so scared. Can you please help us?

Thank You

Re: Can my aunt seek asylum

In order to qualify for entry into the U.S. on

the grounds of political asylum, your aunt must be able to demonstrate a well-grounded fear of persecution based, roughly, on racial, religious, political affiliations, or national origin.

The other option would be for a close family memeber already residing here in the U.S. to sponsor her "green card" application

under the INS's family reunification program.
