Legal Question in Immigration Law in Virginia
Citizenship through naturalized parent
I have beena permanent legal resident of the USA since I was 4 years old. My Father naturalized in 1994 when I was 16 years old. I submitted my US passport application and they have requested additional information, birth certificate with my parent's full names and my Mother's Naturalization cert. She has US citizenship but did not become one until I was over 21 years old. My parents have been divorced since 1990. Do I have citizenship? What additional paperwork should I submit? Divorce papers? Custody petion from my father when I moved in with him? Thank you.

Re: Citizenship through naturalized parent
Merely because your parents are now naturalized American citizens, does not automatically make you one, also.
You must follow through with the same naturalization process which they did in order to
obtain full U.S.citizenship.
