Legal Question in Immigration Law in Virginia

Deportation

Our son is a Canadian citizen with

US green card STATUS.He came into

the US at the age oF 16 and is 28

yrs old now.He is currently serving

time in the DOC on Felony

charges.What are his chances of

being deported back to Canada ?

Will he be deported before he

serves his sentence or after he has

served his sentence ?Does he have

a choice of returning back to

Canada voluntarily once he is

released from DOC, or would he be

deported regardless ?Is there

anything we parents can do to

avoid this situation?I am a US

Citizen and my husband is a

Canadian Citizen with US green

card for past 15 years ?Would any

of this help my son from being

deported ?

Re: Deportation

1. Quite good, particularly if he's a convicted aggravated felon, in the view of the Department of Homeland Security.

2. After.

3. Yes, he may be able to agree to voluntary deportation.

4. Since, it's unclear as to the nature of your son's felony conviction, you should arrange to consult with an attorney who is conversant with the latest developments in U.S. immigration law which may have some bearing on your son's case issues.
