Legal Question in Immigration Law in Virginia

General Recommendation Requested

I'm currently a LPR in the process of a pending naturalization application (mid-Sept) in the Vermont District of USCIS. I have a wife who's currently here on a tourist visa.

1) Should we immediately register for a marriage certificate? (I was told to wait until about a month before I get naturalized, which is estimated to be around March or April [6 months from the application date]) I ask this because I want to know what will benefit her most in getting her a green card.

2) Is it wise for me to even assume that my application will be processed in approximately 6 months?

Thank you.

Re: General Recommendation Requested

If you're already a LPR(lawful permanent resident), you're now entitled to sponsor your wife for similar status)(so-called green card)

by filing the I-130(petition for alien relative)and related documents to adjust her status((I-485?).

So what's the point of waiting for your naturalization to be conferred by USCIS even if it's only three or four months from now?
