Legal Question in Immigration Law in Virginia
Green Card/ H1 question
Hi,
I am on an H1b visa, which expires May 20, 2005 (1st 3 year period). I plan to file papers for an employment based green card soon. My question is, even if i do file for a green card, i do still need to file for an H1 extension (to stay in status once it expires in May), right? Filing for a green card does not allow me to work while it is being processed, right?
Thanks!

Re: Green Card/ H1 question
One is a nonimmigrant visa status(H1B), the other
an immigrant visa status(the so-called green card). These are, so to speak, like apples and oranges. Therefore, the answers to both of your questions must be, yes.
