Legal Question in Immigration Law in Virginia

H1b visa

I have been in USA from last 4 months on H1b visa.I have been on bench from last three months. My consultancy has not allowed me to apply for my SSN.So right now i don't have my SSN.Now because of family reason ,I must have to go back to India for a week.So does it create any issue for me when i will come back to USA?

Re: H1b visa

As long as you haven't fallen out of status with respect to your current H1-B visa, I don't see how not having a SS# could be a bar to your reentry into the U.S.A. (Of course, whether that may have already occurred by your having "been on bench from last three months" is another issue.)

However, I don't see why your "consultancy" has not permitted you to apply for one, and it probably would be better if you had the papers to show U.S. Customs that you had at least applied for a social security number---in case they should ask about it.
