Legal Question in Immigration Law in Virginia

About I-824

I am a green card holder. My son's I-824 was approved by the district immigration office in Fairfax,VA last October. I submitted the approval notice letter issued to me (one of the required documents to be submitted) to the American consular section in my country for his interview for immigrant visa. But the consular section did not honour the letter, resulting in his interview delay. They want the notice of action (I-179) ,stating the approval of the application issued by the service center( Vermont). I went back to the district office and explained them the situation. They told me the approval notice letter issued to me is final and the consular section should endorse it at all cost. They added that the I-179 is issued by the service center only on cases decided by them but not on transfered cases like my son's. I am confused and do not know what should be done about it.

Re: About I-824

Send the consular section a letter with the information provided to you

by the district office. If necessary, have the district office issue you a brief memo explaining their position and attach a copy to the letter.
