I am on H-4 visa, and my visa is expiring this month. How do i get to change my status so that i can work and feed my family?

Most likely by finding an employer who is willing to sponsor you for an H1B visa which would have to occur before the 2010 H1B visa cap is announced by the USCIS sometime early next year.
