Legal Question in Immigration Law in Virginia

I married a man from Argentina. We lived together as husband and wife for two years; it was not working out for many reasons, and I wanted to end the marriage. His application for a green card was rejected once, and he had reapplied. He asked me to let him live in my house just until the re-application went through. I did, but told him if the application was rejected a second time, I would not wait for a third reapplication to go through. He lived in my basement as a "renter" for one year, and received a second rejection letter. After that, I cancelled my lease and moved . I know I should, but I have not yet applied for a legal separation. Yesterday he informed me that he ("we") have an appointment next week for the Immigration interview, and he wants me to go to the interview and pretend we are still together. He also wants to live here with me for a month because Immigration often asks the neighbors questions. I absolutely do no want him here; and I also do not want to lie at Immigration and put myself in jeopardy with the law. My question is, am I legally required to go to the Interview ?

Why would you be "required" to go to such an interview for which you've received no valid notice

from immigration authorities nor for which you yourself have any pending case?

Time to sever all ties with this master manipulator before you get into some real trouble.
