Legal Question in Immigration Law in Virginia
need help
We have two problems, We need to take our current Attorney to court or at least we feel that we might have a case. After close to five years of working with
Mr. Justo an immigration attorney we have been abandoned by him with in
the last month. During my wife's journey through the web maze of
immigration to get her residence papers, we have been completed all the
needed legal paper work, gone to ever interview and we have been waiting
close to 2 yrs to get a final decision from immigration on my wife's
residence papers. Now we found out that Mr. Justo was not licensed to
practice law in Virgina just DC. His last email was accusatory and
slanderous not only us but the office of Congressman Goodlate. We want to
know if we have any legal right to take Mr. Justo to trail to get our
money back for practicing law illegally in Virginia, emotional stress,
harassment, neglect and abandonment. I guess we would be looking for a
civil trail lawyer. He has left us with out any legal representation now
that we need help to wade through the un

Since immigration law is federal law, as long as
a lawyer is licensed to practice law in the highest court of at least one U.S. jurisdiction, that's sufficient for him or her to practice immigration law.
In the situation described in your question, the lawyer did not need a Virginia law license to practice immigration law if he was licensed in DC.
