Legal Question in Immigration Law in Virginia

studying oversea, about naturalization problems.

Hello.

I probably will go to a Caribbean island to study medicine. I applied for citizenship this January. the whole thing will take one year, and I am leaving the states in August.

And as you know, a person will lose his time in the states if he has a trip more than 6 months.

Since there are purto rico and virgin island, I think that I can probably go back to those two places for a day in order to keep my time.

However, I wonder how I will be able to finish the whole citizenship process.

Can anyone tell me? Thanks.

The INS has offices in the Virgin Islands as well as Puerto Rico which are most likely within a reasonable travel distance of the island where you

will be doing your studies.

You should be able to finish your citizenship process with no problem and, finally, take the

oath at one of these INS territorial offices.
