Legal Question in Immigration Law in Virginia

TN Sponsorship

Hi There,

I am a Canadian citizen, and wanted to get a better idea on qualifiers for Tn sponsorship. I have an MIS degree from Virginia Tech in the states. I wanted to see what a company would need to provide me for so that I get accepted and approved at the border. How lengthy of a process is it, and how complicated of one is it?

Please contact me via email if this is not very clear.

Re: TN Sponsorship

In order to secure Trade Nafta-1 visa/status as a Canadian citizen with professional credentials, you will need to be able to show the following documentation at the U.S. port of entry(or Canadian international airport):

1. Proof of Canadian citizenship, whether a passport or birth certificate.

2. Evidence that the intended U.S. activity is one listed on the NAFTA schedule.

3. Evidence that the applicant has the necessary credentials to be considered

a professional in one of the enumerated NAFTA professions on the NAFTA schedule.

4, Documentation of the compensation arrangements to be paid the applicant by the employer for the proposed activity(employment).

5. A statement from the applicant that his or her proposed entry is temporary in nature. The employer should also indicate that the term of proposed employment is for one year or less.

6. Payment of a filing fee of around $50 and $6 or so for the I-94 arrival and departure record card.
