Legal Question in Immigration Law in Virginia

Unemployment benefit eligibility and Greencard

I am a non-alien resident with a valid work permit in Virginia. My visa is G4 as my husband works for an International Organization. I was laid off 2 weeks back, after working there for 4 years. I have 2 questions:

1) Am i eligible for Unemployment?

2)Will receiving the unemployment be a problem in future when i apply for Green Card?

Re: Unemployment benefit eligibility and Greencard

1. Yes, if you meet the criteria which would apply to any resident applicant of the Commonwealth for these particular benefits.

2. No, whether or not you received unemployment benefits which you were legitimately entitled to will have no effect whatsoever on whether you may later qualify for lawful permanent residency.
