Legal Question in Insurance Law in Virginia
commercial insurance
Our business was recently destroyed by arson and we do not have adequate insurance to cover the building or property loss. Is the agent or broker liable for underinsuring us? What recourse do I have, if any, to force them to pay for the total loss?

Re: commercial insurance
You will love this answer--"it depends". It is reasonable to expect the property to be adequately insured, and if under the circumstances you were justified in expecting the agent to determine the value, then you may well have a case for his negligence...feel free to contact me to discuss.
