Legal Question in Insurance Law in Virginia
Can a former employer collect from insurance and still try to prosecute?
I was called a few weeks ago by an insurance company wanting me to pay a huge sum to cover a claim they paid my former employer. I haven't been contacted by any law enforcement, and after looking at the items on the claim, I can definitively prove the employer is lying. I moved to adifferent state, and am not interested ina legal battle. My question is, can my old employer still prosecute (ins. comp. says case is being investigated by local police) after recieving payment? Also, Should I share the evidence of his dishonesty with the insurance company? Like i said, I don't want or have time for a legal battle, but I'm afraid I'll be in one no matter how I proceed. The ins. comp. says the only evidence on thier end is the empl. signed and notarized claim indicating I stole specific items that I can prove where sold with his knowledge.
