Legal Question in Insurance Law in Virginia
Group Eligibility
I am an underwriter for a large insurance company. A question has come up surrounding a potential risk. There is a large home mortgage company that would like to provide free Accidental Death and Dismemberment coverage to purchasors of a mortgage. The question surrounds weather mortgage account holders qualify as an eligible group in the state of Virginia. The individual mortgage holders would be the beneficiary NOT the mortgage company. Any assistance you can give is greatly appreciated.

Re: Group Eligibility
I see no reason as to why the individual mortgagees could not be eligible for such insurance
coverage and listed as the payees under such policies rather than the mortgagors, but, why not solicit the opinion of one or more of the many attorneys which your large insurance company undoubtedly must have in its employ regarding the matter?
