Legal Question in Insurance Law in Virginia
home owner's insurance claim
I filed a lost luggage claim with my insurance comapny. It has been four months since I filed and there is little progress and no pay. I am wondering wondering if there is law on how soon the insurance company should settle a clam. Now they ask for my uthorization/release of information, which allow them to check my credit history and personal loan information. I am wondering if this is leagal.

Re: home owner's insurance claim
Sure, it's legal for them(the insurance carrier) to ask for the authorizaions which you've mentioned, although, of course, you're under no obligation to provide them. (Of course, your refusal to do so might possibly affect the disposition of your claim.)
Why not give the adjuster or claims examiner a call and make inquiry as to what seems to be holding things up?
