Legal Question in Insurance Law in Virginia
homeowner insurance claim
Can an insurance company require you to let them check our credit because we had a break in to our property and about $15,000 worth of items were stolen & they are suggesting we are lying to get money because of financial problems. Can they check into our finances because of this claim?

Re: homeowner insurance claim
Sure, your insurance carrier can check
the state of your finances as well as your credit in the course of investigating the legitimacy of your
claim of loss and without any special permission from you.
