Legal Question in Insurance Law in Virginia
monetary settlements resulting in cancellation of auto insurance
I was convicted of improper driving one year ago. A passenger was injured in the accident. she is now suing my insurance co for her medical bills and pain and suffering. If my auto insurance makes a settlement or has to pay a judgement, can or will they cancel my insurance, or increase my rates?

Re: monetary settlements resulting in cancellation of auto insurance
Unfortunately, the answer to your specific question is yes. Whether the insurance company drops you or not however, it still would have the duty to defend the claim or lawsuit and pay any settlement or judgment up to the policy limits.
