Legal Question in Insurance Law in Virginia
Smokers Insurance
I have had a life insurance policy for 20 years that I have been paying on. 12 Years ago I had a mild heart attack and quit smoking. Two years after that I had by-pass surgery. I haven't smoked in over 10 years and requested a reduction in my rates from smoker to non smoker. The insurance company refused because of my past medical problems. Do i have any recourse?

Re: Smokers Insurance
No, the insurance carrier is not obligated to give you a reduced rate for your insurance under the circumstances which you've described.
