Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

501c3 status rules for termination

I was terminated from a teaching position due to budget cuts, not for cause. Must the non-profit offer me any open job for which I am qualified before hiring from outside? Is it a violation of 501c3 status to hire another teacher for a open position when I was qualified and would have taken it? This involves a private school with tax exempt status.

No, I do not see how yow your employer having 501C3

status with the IRS could possibly prevent them from hiring someone to replace you in a teaching position under the circumstances described.
