Does 90 day notice supercede contract end date

Specific clause of contract pertaining to the question reads:

The term of employment under this Agreement shall be for a period of one (1) year beginning Jan 3, 2005, and ending December 30, 2006. The term of this Agreement shall be extended for an additional year unless either employer or employee notifies the other in writing at least ninety (90) days in advance of their decision not to extent the term or the Agreement is otherwise terminated as provided below.
