Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia
I am 62 and was out of work with cancer which is now in remission. My employer notified me in writing I had to return to work by Aug 15, 2010 which as fine. I intended to return to work Aug 4, 2010 which I let the company know. Before I could returrn to work I was laid off on July 25, 2010 due to lack of work the company said. I was one of the more experienced in my position and and second only to one other in seniority. The company retained younger, less experienced people on my position. Has the company violated and laws. This in the state of Virginia.
