Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia
Age Discrimination
I recently applied, over the internet, for a position with a Fortune 100 company with an excellent reputation. Subsequently, I received an e-mail (misdirected) by a manager in the company indicating I had the qualifications but was in my 50's and that they didn't know if they could teach an old dog new tricks. I know my remidies with EEOC and going to court. If this is presented to the corporate counsel (it is a prima facia case)what sort of settlement amounts am I looking at without going to court? What is it worth to a major company that is in the public eye daily, to put this sort of thing (possibly a class action)to rest? What sort of amounts do large companies with over 100,000 employees agree to in confidential settlement agreements? Thanks

Re: Age Discrimination
Without actually instituting suit in federal court under the ADEA against this particular company, there's probably no reliable way to answer any of your questions, all of which are framed, substantially, in generalities.
