Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia
I have applied to a position within my company in a different department. My current department is dealing with a staffing shortage, although we are set to hire one new person next month. If I get offered the new position, what actions can my employer legally take to delay my taking the new position? What are my rights to force my employer to allow me to assume the new position?

Absent your working under the protection of an enforceable contract or
collective bargaining type of agreement that might bear on the issue
in question, it would be my assessment that you likely have no rights
whatsoever to force your employer to do anything in regard to this issue.
