Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

Being asked to resign & unemployment question

Hello and thanks for reading my post. My employer told me that at the end of the week I will be laid off and have the option of resigning instead. The layoff will be because the company is doing layoffs in general and is letting go some of the sales staff that is ''under the bar'' from where they want them to be...me being included. My question is, if I resign instead of being let go, can I still collect unemployment in VA. I've done nothing wrong at all and have a great business realationship with my managers, this is stricly a #'s decision.

Thanks for all your help!
