having background check for a job, background showed something happen in 1991 went to court house

they do not go back,but to 2001 what can I DO CLEAR THIS UP

The court records prior to 2001 should be on microfiche or some other storage type media. Ask the clerk for assistance in accessing and using this media (if necessary).

And, if necessary, you may want to request a rerun of this background check to determine its accuracy.
