Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

can a boss do that?

My husbands boss is always calling him names and demaning more of him than any other employee, he expects my husband to work 13 hour days, and mandatory overtime. I was wondering if this was allowed. He has stated often that he wants everyone to hate him and makes disparaging comments about my husband daughter and I. I was wondering if if this is alowwed or is it harassment? and can he demand that my husband work more than his scheduled hours?

Re: can a boss do that?

Of course the conduct you've described is harassment but not the kind that is actionable in federal court which is sexual harassment

Your husband must be compensated for all hours worked in accordance with federal and state wage and hour compensation laws unless he's classified as a mangerial employee or fits under some other exception which allows the empolyer not to compensate under circumstances which you've described.
