Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

I breached a non-compete contract with my consulting firm in Richmond VA and seek legal help with options. Summary - I worked for company A on W2 and A company got me a contracting job at a client through B company who was a prefered vendor to that client company. I worked for 6 months and left that client. A company got me a contracting job at M company which A company is prefered vendor. I completed 6 months there and the client ended my contract. A company did not have any other job for me as my contract with A company was terminated on the last day of working at M client.

Now I joined old C client through B company who is a direct vendor and A company is threating me for a aggrement breach which states that I cannot work for C client for 1 year after my last day there which was 6 months ago. As per agreement yes I did breach the non-compete but this A company was not even a direct vendor to C client and they did not have anything for me. In this bad economy I had to take whatever I get to support my family. I am seeking help. Please HELP!

There is insufficient information to respond to this question in terms

of defenses to the non-compete contract that might be raised, and in particular the nature of your work performed and the geographic scope of the prohibition, e.g., merely the area around and including Richmond, the entire state of Virginia, or, perhaps, the entire country.
