Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

Church Secretary

I am a member of the church where I am also church secretary. Does the pastor and/or the church have the right to tell me that I have to attend church services? My job has been threatened because I do not attend all services. This has never been mentioned until now (I have been in this job 12 years), and it it not written anywhere. Do they have that right to make it written and mandatory?

Re: Church Secretary

Yes, I would say that they likely do(have such a right)unless you're working under a contract of employment which provides otherwise.
