Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

I am a US citizen in the UK on a Settlement Visa. I am contemplating filing for bankruptcy in the US because I am unable to keep up with my debts and cannot see my situation changing in the near future.

I work for a Building Society part of the organization's policy regarding financial hardship is that any issues should be reported to my direct manager to go no the record for review by Group Risk with the possibility of being removed from my role.

I do not want to be in a position where my job is at risk because of a choice to deal with my debts through bankruptcy. I do not trust that I can get 'off the record' advice from my direct or area managers (because of there obligations to the organization as employees).

I have no UK creditors. My question is whether a bankruptcy in the US can affect my UK credit status or even be detectable in the UK.

Bankruptcy filings in the U.S.are a matter of public record. So, yes,

anyone in the world who wants to make whatever effort is required

to find out about it, should be able to do so (in my opinion).
