Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia
So I am classified as a part time employee at a large resort in Virginia. However, some weeks I will get 20 hours a week but the past two weeks I have got none. Recently, we had a full time employee quit and another transfer departments which opened up at least 60 hours, yet my boss will still not give me any hours. I believe that the reason behind it is not that she does not have the hours but alternative purposes. Is this illegal for her to not schedule me any hours at all but schedule more hours for others who are part time as well and already had hours to begin with?

My opinion would be that under the facts described that there would be nothing illegal about it.
