Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia
Here's the deal, I was just getting on break but as I was walking I was called upon by two other employees. They had asked to use my scanner for a second, I agreed to let them, but while they were doing so we engaged in conversation. Thus the manager came and asked us what we were doing, I replied I'm on break but I'm letting them use my scanner, she caught a nasty attitude and told me to Goto the back where I was suppose to be on break. I replied with a simple "ok" but as I was walking I mumbled to myself "Oh boy" and she told me to go home. I was dumb founded but proceeded to go home as told but as I was walking to clock out one of my other managers walked up and told me she didn't want me to work there anymore. So I left completely fathomed. Is this reason to fire me and will I win my hearing ?

Yes, if you were working without the protection of an enforceable contract of employment, and, no, you will not win your claim for unemployment benefits if your former employer successfully convinces the VEC that you were properly
"fired for cause".
