Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

deduction

A deduction was taken out of pay period ending 4-02-2004 and 4-16-2004. I receive pay on a bi-weekly basis. The amount was taken out as a pre tax reduction. When I questioned my supervisor on April 5, 2004, I was informed on April 8, 2004 that the reasoning was for 2 days lwop back in Sept 2003. I am employed with an agency in the county government. Can an employer take a deduction from an employee without their knowledge? Should a memo or letter have been issued to the employee of the deduction? Isn't this a violation of my rights?

Re: deduction

Deduction (reduction) for what? (Yes, it could make a difference) Violation of rights, no, I would think, probably, not, under the circumstances described.
