Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia
Hi,
I am a defense contractor employee. I was working in iraq on a contract and was offered a job stateside. I agreed to take the job- contingent upon my clearance being accepted by the company. So, I was told to wait untl they came through with the clearance issue resolved before I turned in my 2 week notice to my former employer. I did, and they finally came back and told me that I was good to go and I could put in my 2 week notice. I did so and a couple weeks later I was on my way home. I got home, moved accross the country from NV to FL. I was supposed to start work on Monday and I got a call from the project manager telling me that they wont be able to bring me on because my clearance had an issue with the government side of things. So, come monday I will have no job and subsequently no prospects. I already got an apartment lined up and all of my belongings are here in tampa as well. (oh and the contract company HQ is located in VA) I left the contract job half way through that contract in which i would have been employed until next Feburary.
Please let me know if I have any legal basis for suing this company. Thanks for the help

Yes, you may have a viable claim for breach of the agreement described but
more relevant facts would need to be developed in order to opine with greater
certainty on the matter (in my opinion).
