Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

Employee fired for cash drawer errors

My till was $200.00 off last week. My coaches cannot locate any errors and neither can I. I just finished my training period today and have been advised to either go elsewhere to work or write a letter explaining what happened to my drawer. This is my first job (Sam's Club customer service) and I didn't take the money and don't want to get fired. Can I bring my own auditor to help find this error in my cash drawer? Can I be fired for an error no one can prove? What can I do?

Re: Employee fired for cash drawer errors

Yes, you can be fired for almost any reason unless

you're protected by a contract, and whether you could bring your own auditor to the scene to assist with identifying the error which occasioned the missing money would very likely be up to Sam's Club.
