Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia
I have an employee working for me full time for the last two years. I never had a full time position in the area he was hired for. I was cross training him for other positions and hoping for business growth to keep him busy. He didn't measure for other task and the business didn't grow. I reduced his our to 30 in May and then 20 in Jun. Our employee manual considers 35 hours a week a full time employee, and therefore full benefits. The employee in question year anniversary of employment is due Next month. I plan to give him vacation and seek leave benefit in proportion to the time he was full time. Do I have to pay full benefits since he was hired full time and I cut the hours?
Thank you for your time.

Only if the employee was working under a contract which would
required you to do so (pay full benefits under circumstances described--
in my opinion).
