Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia
My employment was terminated on grounds of not following company policy and I disagree with it. The termination reason has been sent to the state employment commission as well.
1. If I choose not to contest with my former employer, will the termination reflect negatively on background checks by future employers?
2.How do I go about contesting my termination on grounds of misconduct? Can I subpeona them for emails that will reflect the truth?

1. Yes, that's possible, even if you contest it.
2. When you get notice of your hearing date, you could ask the VEC at that time
whether you have a right to request copies of emails and other documents which
are in the employer's possession and which might help your case.
