Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

Employment

I have work with a company for over 4 years and it recently was bought out by the parter. I went from working 40+ hrs to less then 16 hrs a week. I have done nothing to deserve this cut and when I ask I am told that he has to cut back. Well, I could understand that except for the fact that he has hired 4 other people and they are getting at least 20 hrs or more a week. Is there anything legally that I can do? I have already put in a claim for partial unemployment.

Re: Employment

Virginia is an at will employment state, which means that your employer is able to fire you, or cut back your hours, for no good reason at all. Unless you were subject to discrimination, under a specific employment contract, or, are a union employee, there is little you will be able to do against the employer.
