Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia
I'm filing suit with Labor of VA if my job fires me do I have the right to file
On Dec. 31st I worked 3half hrs, I have docum. for it but they never paid me.When I asked about it they've beat around the bush.(I still have not been paid)Then when they do pay me my checks bounce.Last time this happend my manager told me to take it out of the register. However, the owner came back and said we were stealing his money. My last check bounced because they were released from the bank for so many problems and now when we've tried to get the money back plus our bank fees they say they don't have the money so we can't get it back.(We is my coworkers and I)altogether they owe us nearly$700 in bounced checks and missing time, my manager being $500+ of that.So as of today I told them I''m tired of beating around a bush and I was going to contact the Labor Board unless they get us our money. The Bookkeeper of the buisness told us to take the money out of the register because there was no other way to get it back.I know if we do that we are going to be charged with theft.I am contacting the Labor Board,I was informed by them that they(my company)has been known to fire people that have complained in the past.Do I have the right to file lawsuit against them if they do fire me off?Odly, the owner has no problem making his money!

You certainly have the "right" to file such a suit
but I very much doubt that you would get any where with it.
