Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

Final Check and Vacation Payout

I was let go from my job two weeks ago today (12/17). I was told that I would be receiving one more paycheck on 12/15 and that I would aslo be receiving my vacation time payout with that check. The paycheck direct deposit arrived, the vacation payout did not. I've been told ''we'll try to get it to you by the end of December''. I also got no written documentation of my termination other than an email and was given no warning. In the past, this company has missed payroll on two occasions since May. Legally, should I have gotten my vacation payout on 12/15? Was their termination process legit? Is there anything else I might be missing? They are based in Sweden and don't seem to have a grasp on US employment laws quite yet. Thanks in advance. (I'm in Virginia)

Re: Final Check and Vacation Payout

Virginia is an employment at will jurisdiction where employees can be terminated for almost any reason which doesn't violate federal antidiscrimination laws(or for no reason)and, furthermore, there is no requirement that employers in the Commonwealth compensate employees for accrued vacation time upon terminating them unless there is a guarantee for such compensation under a contract or collective bargaining type of agreement.
