Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

fire from job

I worked ina research firm. The did not give me any letter or paper telling me that I have such and such description of the work. I asked for the training my self but the person who was trining me had not any experience in my area or expertise but on his recommendation I was fired and the cause given to me was that I was not of the standard to the position that they have offered.

Can i file a case aginst the person or the company

thanks

Re: fire from job

Sure, you could file a case but you can be assured that it would be summarily dismissed based upon the facts which you've described.

The Commonwealth of Virginia is an employment

at will jurisdiction created by the Virginia legislature whose members are largely in the pockets of corporate and business entities.

As a consequence of this unwholesome relationship, the labor and employment laws which are passed by the legislature largely favor businesses rather than "little 'ole" hapless employees like yourself.

Unfortunately, the message conveyed by the situation which you've described might be characterized as follows: "Suck it up, son/(girl?), and move on!"
