Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

I was fired from my job that you have been with for 30+ years just because I had surgery on my arm and my doctor told me not to work, Was it illegal for them to fire me?

Very unlikely unless you were covered by a valid contract of employment

or collective bargaining type of agreement. The Commonwealth is among

those 45 or so U.S jurisdictions which are characterized as adherents to

the so-called employment at will doctrine.
