Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

Can you be fired for leaving early due to inclement weather? There was a state of emergency for our area. I had already worked my 40 hours. It's not in the handbook and i was never told that i would be fired for leaving. I was only aware of receiving an "occurance" for leaving.

Unless you're working under the protection of an employment contract, you could certainly be fired for the reason cited in the employment at will jurisdiction

known as the Commonwealth of Virginia.
