Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

I want to know if I was fired legally?

I had filled out an application for employment for a company. On the application it asks if you have ever been convicted of a felony and I answered yes. I assumed if it was an issue that would have asked me questions about it, but they did not so I figured it was not an issue. They hired me and began to train me I followed protocol and took a drug test as they asked. The 4th day of training I was notified that I was going to be fired due to the fact that I had a Felony is this right or legal, I don't feel that is fair since I turned down other positions to take this job.

Re: I want to know if I was fired legally?

Son,(how I know that you can be accurately addressed as such, I will not reveal), unfortunately, you figured wrong. In the Commonwealth of Virginia, an employment at will jurisdiction, an employee who has no protection from a contract or collective bargaining agreement, can be fired at any time and for any reason by his or her employer for any reasons that do not implicate/violate the protected categories set forth in the federal statutory scheme of antidiscrimination laws.(None such, presumably apply in your case.)

Conviction for a felony would be be more than adequate basis for such termination(with no particular reasons even offered)in our beloved Commonwealth.
