Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

garnishing wages with out notice

Im working for a small dealer ship and I put a helmet on my account and with out any notice they started garnishing my wages with out any attempt to let me know, and had no intent to do so. Can they do that with out saying anything to me about it, or with out a court order?

Re: garnishing wages with out notice

No they cannot and you should have received a copy of the garnishment at the time it was sent to the employer which would have allowed you to contest it if you so chose.
